Joyce Cracas

I began porcelain doll making in the spring of 1988 with the sole intention of making one baby doll for my only granddaughter, Vanji, to add to her collection. Making the doll was such a fulfilling experience that it has turned into a hobby that includes making dolls and their clothes to resemble babies in their christening dresses to antique-looking dolls.

I work out of my home in Utah and my vacation home in Idaho.

In 1990, I started making both small and large Indian dolls exclusively for The Cradleboard Gallery and Gifts in West Yellowstone, Montana. Dolls have gone from there to all over the United States and many European countries.

I ,alone, craft each doll from the finest Frech bisque, the I China paint them and dress them in original costumes. After the many hundreds of dolls I have made, it is still so satisfying to work on and give the finishing touches to each doll.
