  Tommy Tsinnigine Singer

Tommy Tsinnigine Singer

Tommy has been a silversmith for 42 years. He learned his craft from his father at the age of seven. However, it was not until Tommy was 21 years old that he decided to become a full-time silversmith.

His designs are reflective of traditional old Navajo sandpainting and rug designs. But, because his father was a medicineman, Tommy was exposed to many of the ceremonial designs used to heal patients.

His famous storyteller scenes are seen through the eyes of Tommy everyday, then carved into silver with a skillful hand and eye for all to enjoy.

Tommy lives at Navajo Nation, Arizona where life is still very tradltlonal. If fact, with all of Tommy's fame he still has no phone and must pick-up his mail some 50 miles away.

His work includes overlay buckles, bolos and concho belts with simple, but effective black line designs. Storyteller buckles , conchos, necklaces and bracelets are among Tommy's best work. Bolo straps, which he makes in red, brown, and black, are a standard "Singer" trademark. His carved silver bead necklaces are sought by collectors from around the world.

Tommy's success is attributed to the fact he is acutely aware of when to put designs on the market and when to stop making old designs. This practice helps sustain the value of his works while always bringing to his collectors new concepts of design.
